Jan’09 Pictures

These are pictures from January 2009.

Catch me if you can…

George seems to like Chinese food. Wish I got the one with the chop sticks.

A little fun with crafts (George & Mom)

Ok. This is the “as it’s happening” picture that Sara sent Matt while her and George where at the hospital. This was the end of a long and interesting week. Here is a short time-line:

> Sunday night 11:30pm – George wakes with a tummy ache, coughing, and throws up a little bit

> Monday breakfast – George still not feeling better, drinks water, and throws up (Aidan keeps on eating)

> Tuesday – George still not feeling better, drinking a little bit of milk and very little food

> Wednesday – George looks like he may be getting better, but seems out of sorts

> Thursday morning – George EXPLODES. He throws up a weeks worth of milk and makes a large mess in his room. We call the hospital and they want us to bring him in the afternoon. After we try cleaning this up Matt went to the hardware store and rents a carpet cleaner and we do what we can to the carpets. George goes to the hospital and is diagnosed with a very slight case of dehydration so they begin administiring IV fluids.

Fri, Sat & Sun – George finally starts feeling better and begins to turn back into himself. It was a wild and scary ride, but I am glad all went well.

Dec’08 Pictures

Ok, So the holidays always seem to be a very busy time and it’s tough to keep posting stuff. But we wanted to post some of the months and pics from the last few months. Below are some of the pics from December 2008.

I can move much faster with these on!

George Update 22 Months

George just turned 22 months….he has just about reached 36″ and is doing really well.  We had a fun fall and Christmas.  George did well with all of our travels & loved the gift portion of the visits as well. 😉

Updates are that he loves to draw….with pencils, pens, markers, chalk…it doesn’t matter as long as he is drawing.  So far he has been good at only drawing on paper…we hope that continues.  He has surprised us with some of his language…it is amazing how much he can say.  My favorite saying is “George is learning 10 new words a day, let’s make sure they are words we want him to know”.  Even I slip up sometimes and of course those are the words he catches.

He is doing well at his daycare and enjoys his teachers quite a bit.  It is obvious he likes it as he enjoys to tell us what the other kids did that day.  He should be moving into the 2s room in the next few months.  Every transition is unpredictable.  On thing that is completely predictable is the fact that once the Wiggles are on TV he is completely glued.  Other than their traditional ‘closing’ music you can tell it is the end of the show when he says (and waves to the TV) ” bye bye Wiggles, bye bye Captain, bye bye Dog”.  It is pretty cute to see him working greetings, farewells & manners into his life.

His imagination is really starting to blossom.  He got a number of toys for Christmas that he loves to play with…but what made us laugh was when he used the “Ove Glove” to remove some pots/pans from his pretend kitchen oven.  He enjoys playing in the kitchen with the food, utensils & pots….then he ran into our kitchen saying “ove glove, ove glove” as if he was on a mission.  He quickly found it & ran back to his oven removing the pot saying “hot, hot, hot”.  It cracked us up.  Along with playing in his kitchen he is a good clean up helper.  He continues to play with his broom & use our carpet sweeper to help clean up.  Sometimes he is a help, sometimes not so much….but they are good habits to develop.

Our family is working through some winter colds right now and is looking forward to warmer weather so we can play outside in the snow.  George likes the snow…he likes to stand in the snow & watch us play.  Matt made a snowman & I started a fort….George enjoyed them when we were done.  🙂  We hope to head out & get some sledding in to yet this winter.

Well, off to start the day!

Our new “experiment”

So we have found that because George has been watching and learning baby signs since he was a little that he often loves to narrate our lives and one of his favorite things to do is come into the bathroom and sign “potty” and watch. Thinking that this is good behavoir and trying to find a way to direct it in a postive way we decided to research training toilets. After looking at the store and settling on one we brought it home and our little adventure began…

Meet the mini-aqua flush 1000 (well actually the little one doesn’t flush just a pot)

So of we embarked to get him “familar” with the concept of sitting on the toilet. We by no means feel he is ready or are trying to get him ready for potty training.

But to our surprise he gave us a present…

Catching up on his MacLife columns

And this was it. After a little encouragement he decided to sit on the toilet before he got into his bath… and he pee’d, yup a good ole fasion whiz-in-bowl. It was a proud moment for us as we both looking into this little plastic pot and were so excited over an ounce or less of yellow liquid. But hey it’s a start.

In fact he likes the darn thing so much he finds it a great spot for casual reading. I suppose it fitting to call his toilet the “thinking chair” as we do the big one.

Talking & Exploring

George is starting to talk up a storm and loves to repeat what he hears; careful what you say!

He started at a new daycare (Arts for Kids) in August and it is taking a bit to become adjusted but he is doing well.  He still cries when I drop him off, but seems happy when Matt picks him up.  Teachers say they can tell he is very smart and has good days…the mornings are just a bit tough.  He enjoys painting & music class not to mention being outside on the playground.

At home we are working on manners….he realized that ‘please’ is almost as good as gold & will get him closer to the things he wants.  He also has new shoes (size 7.5 wide) and enjoys to undo the velcro and take his shoes off.  He continues to enjoy watching ‘rachel’ better known to the rest of the children’s world as Signing Times videos.  He doesn’t use his sign language as much, but he will randomly pull out a sign like bread or cracker or cheese to reinforce what he is trying to say.  It is cute.  George likes to ‘help’ with dishes (plays in the water & bubbles) and laundry (pull all the folded clothes off the couch).  He is quick to remind us that he is a good ‘elper, elper’.

The end of the summer was nice with a trip to the Milwaukee Zoo & Wisconsin State Fair.  We got camping only once this summer, but George loved it.  Summer flew by & now we are pulling out long sleeves and pants again.  We have a couple of busy months ahead  (as usual) and look forward to some pumpkin picking and visits to the Little Farmer (that’s mostly for momma & papa).  So far he enjoys watching some football games & yells “go, go, go” at the TV.

Umm, this door has no handle!

I feel pretty, so pretty, and free…

Anyone have a cup of coffee so I can wake up already

Bet you can’t guess what I’m hiding in my pants 🙂

Seriously, if you touch my ice cream again we’ll have to talk!

This is my smile after a long day at the zoo!

Ah, milk… yummmm.

Time to stop and smell the… weeds?

Hip Hop Baby!

So as it turns out we purchased a small iPod shuffle right before George was born so that we could hold all his songs to play for him. Well the other day George wanted to “listen” to his music and picked up the earbuds and brought them to Sara. Here is how cute he looks after we put them on him and went outside.

Rocks, Bubbles and Berries…

These are a few of George’s favorite things. He is now 16 months & likes to be outside to dig around to find rocks, watch bubbles (if you do all the work) and eat berries. It is fun to see him try to work with forks and spoons as he eats before he gives in & uses his fingers. This is most entertaining & frustrating when he eats yogurt!

His language is coming along and we find him repeating some random words. Most recently those words include Matt and dude. He has number of words but he tends to only use them at home. In addition to learning more words, he continues to learn new signs. He loves his Baby Signing Times and can sign apple, baby, time, and we are working on colors & feelings.

CLIMBER! He will climb onto anything he can. Even after a few falls he has little fear about trying new things. Today we went to the YMCA. Similar to other ‘new’ adventures he took about 10 minutes to assess the situation before getting into the water. After getting in he warmed up pretty fast.

We are experiencing the mood changes that come with growing teeth. George has been a bit moody with the painful process. It is funny to see how is appetite comes & goes….though it is more here than not. As soon as we open something he comes running as if he hadn’t eaten in hours.

George will start at a new daycare in August. During the summer he has 2 days at home with dad, then splits the other time between the UWO daycare & sitter/friend Sarah. He is getting to enjoy ice cream, lots of walks, bubbles and exploring this summer. We have visited the new daycare (Arts for Kids) a couple of times and I think he will be happy there.

We are getting ready for a weekend of camping at Long Lake and possibly a trip to the Milwaukee Zoo. Though it seems that summer is moving quickly, we plan to get as much out of it as possible.

Time after Time

Below as a treat we compiled pictures of George beginning at March 07 going through July 08.
