So I’m making my blog / website debut today to bring you first-ever pictures of our baby. We went for our appointment today & had an ultrasound. After drinking 60 oz of water, they can get a clear picture of our baby whose size was compared to a medium sized banana.
We had a great tech in training under the RN’s supervision. They take tons of pictures – angling the wand just right to get multiple images of the heart beating, the brain, the head (they took measurements too), they take pictures of the stomach, kidneys, hands, legs, feet & other things that I do not even remember.
At the end, they take some time to get images for the parents to explain and outline what they see. You can see we have a few profile pictures of our “good picture takerâ€, some of the legs (looks like baby is resting comfortably), one of the feet. The arms can be seen in a couple of the profile pictures.
Overall (after going to the bathroom), the ultrasound tech & nurse said they could not interpret anything, but they found all the things they were looking for. They remarked how the baby was a good picture taker because he/she stayed still for some of the tough heart & brain images.
We went to see one of our midwives after the ultrasound. She took measurements & measured my tummy at 21†which is in line with my 21 weeks. She took a look at the heat rash I’ve developed & didn’t seem concerned. Her advice was to keep cool, stay moisturized, and to take Benadryl to sleep if necessary.
All in all, we confirmed that the baby is there….he/she has two arms, two legs, and is growing well all alone inside (no twins). We will get actual doctor results tomorrow.

Hi Sara Ann and Matt! I love your blog idea — it’s fantastic. The pictures of baby Suwalski are wonderful and I especially love the one of him/her sucking the thumb!
Those pictures are so clear and wonderful!!! My favorite is the last one! Wow! You can see the little “alien” face. Ha ha. No offense…he or she will be even more beautiful once fully developed and in his/her mama and daddy’s arms.
Hi Sara & Matt,
I love the pictures! I’m so happy for you both and know you will be awesome parents. Enjoy every day of the experience (even the crummy ones).
Love you,
Mary
P.S. What a fun blog! (Can you do a P.S. in a blog or did I just break a rule?)
What a cutie petutie! Looks like a combination of the two of you! These are the clearest ultrasound pics I have ever seen! 🙂 I can’t wait!
We can’t for little Monkey to arrive! Not too much longer!!
